Will the Middle East Erupt in a New conflict soon?

Posted: Wed 17th March 2010 11.03 PM | AuthorOfer Amitai

Day of Rage - Is the Middle East close to erupting in a new conflict  at this time?

Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
Isaiah 66:10-16

Dozens injured in Jerusalem riots
The Red Crescent said today that 49 Arabs injured in violent clashes in east Jerusalem and one Arab neighborhood in west Jerusalem. Tensions between Palestinians and Israel have escalated in recent weeks following an Israeli government decision to include West Bank religious sites in a Jewish national heritage plan. Riots erupted after Israel dedicated the rebuilt Hurva synagogue on Monday.

Synagogue in Jewish Quarter dedicated
After a hiatus of nearly 62-year, the renowned Hurva synagogue inside the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City has been rebuilt and is again an operational house of prayer.

Built in 1701, the synagogue was burnt down by the creditors (under Turkish rule) when those who built it could not repay them on time.  The synagogue was rebuilt in 1864 and served as one of the largest and most beautiful synagogues in the Middle East. After the war of 1948, the Jordanians, blasted the synagogue to ruins and proceeded to desecrate every place holy to the Jews.

On Monday the synagogue was rededicated to become a house of prayer again, with Knesset  Speaker Reuven Rivlin vowing that the Jewish people shall never again allow the synagogue to be destroyed.

Hamas and PA incite for violence - Demonizing Israel
Although the synagogue is not even close to the Temple Mount, yet, Hamas and Fatah officials have incited their people to violence, calling upon them “defend the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount.”  They have proclaimed today as the Day of Rage and have spread rumors and outright lies, such as that the Jews are planning to march unto the Temple Mount right after the dedication, thus enraging their own people against Israel.

Palestinian Liberation Organization Executive Committee chairman Yasser Abed Rabo called on Israel to refrain from dedicating the Hurva synagogue. Hamas, warned of bloodshed if the synagogue is dedicated, and similar warnings have been made by Egyptian and Jordanian diplomats.

The worst expression of incitement and anti-Semitism came from senior Hamas figure, Mahmoud al-Zahar. He  said, “Muslims, and Christians must protect holy sites from Zionists' racist onslaught.

"You who are opening Hurva are heading towards ruin. Wherever you have been, you've been sent to your destruction. You've killed and murdered your prophets and you have always dealt in loan-sharking and destruction," he said Monday, during a conference of Palestinian groups in Gaza.

Israeli Arab members of Knesset add fuel to the fire
IInstead of calming the streets and shunning Hamas, which is a terrorist organization, Israeli Arab members of Knesset have added fuel to the fire by giving expression to incendiary  words. Member of Knesset Zoubi, for example, said, while visiting teh al-Aqsa Mosque that Israel's policies of 'ethnic cleansing' make third intifada 'unpreventable'

A third Intifada? Another Mid-East war?
If Israel will not be able to quash this uprising in the bud, it could easily spread to the Galilee and the Negev, and to many Arab-Israeli towns in those regions. Things may get out of hand even further if Hezbollah and Syria and Iran believe that this is an opportune time to destabilize things further by attacking Israel.

How should we pray?
Scriptures you can pray through for Israel at this time:

Ezek. 39:21And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
Ezek. 39:22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.
Ezek. 39:23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
Ezek. 39:24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
Ezek. 39:25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;
Ezek. 39:26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.
Ezek. 39:27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
Ezek. 39:28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
Ezek. 39:29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

Please Pray
  • For the Peace (shalom = completion, fulfillment, fulness) of Jerusalem
  • Pray for the Lord to subdue those who rise up in hatred against His people and city
  • Pray that the incitement of the Palestinian leaders will not be effective
  • Pray for the Lord to pour out His Spirit on the nation
  • Pray for the Lord for Aliya (gathering of the Jews to the Land) to increase during this time.
  • Pray for God to reveal His Presence to Israel
  • Pray for the Lord to be glorified and sanctified in Israel - that the nations around Israel will know that God is alone is Lord and God alone is Savior.
  • Pray for the Lord to do His perfect will in the matter of Lebanon, Syria and Iran possibly joining the fray at this time and opening another front.
  • Pray that in spite of the violence God will protect and save lives (deny the enemy his lust for bloodshed).

Portions of Scripture that you can use to pray further:
Zechariah 12; Ezekiel 35-37; Joel 2:28 - 3:21; Isaiah 66; Psalm 2, Isaiah 2:1-4; Isaiah 62

These are just some of the scriptures you can pray as you stand before the Lord for
His counsel to be fulfilled.

May the Lord fill your heart with passion and zeal for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on the earth as it is done in Heaven.

Blessings in Messiah

Ofer

Will the Middle East Erupt in a New conflict soon?

The Arab nations have responded harshly to Israel's declaration of the Cave of Machpela and Rachel's tomb as part of its Heritage sites project. Hamas declared a Day of Rage against Israel on the day Israel dedicated the Hurva synagogue in the Old City of Jerusalem. Will these events lead to another Intifada or even a war between Israel and its neighbors?
